HIGH POINT — The mass affluent consumer is top of mind at Rowe Furniture, and a new product category offering will be introduced during April High Point Market to accommodate the demographic.

Company officials have announced that Rowe is introducing motion upholstery at spring market, pairing the brand’s signature product with new functionality.

“We are launching the program with proof of concept in mind,” said Bobby Robinson, president of Rowe. “The first introduction will bring motion functionality to four of Rowe’s top-selling stationary chairs. Several models will feature zero-wall recline mechanisms, while others will offer power or pushback options with stationary or swivel capabilities.”

Robinson said that the motion upholstery introduction will be available in most of Rowe’s current fabric assortment as well as in eight of the company’s top-selling leathers. This curated customization option gives retailers and consumers a broad selection of options while also maintaining the signature Rowe aesthetic, Robinson noted. Ship time will be between six to eight weeks, and pricing will align with Rowe’s stationary price points described by officials as “upper-mid, but below the high-end luxury market.”

Acknowledging that motion is an extremely competitive furniture category, Robinson said that the product expansion originated with the company’s customers.

“We have an excellent feedback loop with our customers, and they have asked us to enter this category and expect us to bring signature Rowe values and attributes,” he said. “Anytime we venture into a new category, we remind ourselves to stay within character, and Rowe’s key values have always included style, comfort, quality, selection and sustainability. This program will check all of those boxes, making it a unique offering in the motion category.”

Some of the key features of Rowe’s motion product include American craftsmanship, tailored design and a unique seating package. Robinson said that the line is manufactured domestically with “high-quality, U.S.-made components including mechanisms and most raw materials” and that the Bliss seating package introduction “combines next-level comfort, durability and sustainability.”

He added that, like most furniture producers, Rowe’s team is keeping an eye on issues like tariffs that are impacting the industry and adjusting processes as needed.

“The proposed tariffs are affecting us all, even domestic manufacturers,” said Robinson. “While this product is made in the U.S. and our exposure is less severe than for importers, there will still be a trickle-down effect on certain raw materials. Like everyone in the industry, we are monitoring these developments closely.

“This introduction gives Rowe the opportunity to fill our customers’ needs and grow our business incrementally,” Robinson said. “By integrating motion into some of our best-selling chair silhouettes, we are offering retailers and consumers a new level of versatility without compromising on style, comfort, or quality.”
