Biggest Design Trend in 2019 - Sustainability
Let’s help make a difference to our environment!
According to Domino Magazine, Sustainability is a movement that is becoming more widespread than ever, especially as it pertains to design—and come 2019, it will be an overarching theme that will be all too present. It has made serious headway in the realm of food and drink (stainless steel straws, we’re looking at you) not to mention fashion, but the concept of living a more eco-conscious lifestyle has become ingrained in the methodology of many designers, especially when it relates to how they approach their craft. That said, there is a lot more to the movement than reclaimed materials and upcycled basics. The idea of being more sustainable has grown to embody an all-encompassing approach to design, with many brands looking to alternate resources with which to build their basics.
Eco Rowe
Rowe and Robin Bruce Furniture is one of our eco- friendly furniture line we carry at Cole’s Appliance & Furniture co.
Rowe and Robin Bruce Frames—Use kiln-dried hardwood solid and laminate boards that are precision-milled to make a solid frame, one that won’t twist, warp or crack. Joints are held solid with mortise and tenon or double-dowel and corner block construction. These construction techniques give us confidence in offering a lifetime warranty on our frames.
With the launch of the EcoRowe initiative, the company has made a solid commitment to eco-friendly manufacturing processes and sustainable product development. EcoRowe focuses on crucial elements in our future a selection of fabrics produced from natural fibers, renewable fibers, and the use of wood from replenished, domestic forests for the frames and the choice of two eco-friendly seat cushion cores.
The eco-cushion core contains plant-based, renewable materials which replace significant amounts of petroleum-based materials used in standard foam cushions. Our eco-down blend cushion core is a modern combination of high-resiliency foam with recycled fiber and a blend of duck feather and down. The cotton ticking used to encase the feather and down is no longer bleached.
Each piece of Rowe and Robin Bruce furniture will include eco-wood and eco-cushion cores. With your choice of fabrics, you can create a complete eco-friendly piece of furniture.

3 Styles We Love When It Comes To Kitchen Design by Thermador
When it comes to kitchen design, there’s a secret to taking your space to the next level that all design mavens know: nothing adds depth and intrigue to a room like eye-catching textures and striking patterns. From warm woods, to bare brick, to striking tiles, texture enhances the feeling of the room – whether comfortable and cozy or ultra-glamorous. Here are a few of my favorite ways to incorporate this top trend in kitchen design.
Wooden Materials
Texture adds character and contrast to your space, and wood is one of the best materials to help elevate a room. If looking to add a special elegance or rustic feel, wooden features provide just the trick and can be utilized to enhance designs of varying aesthetics. From reclaimed woods that exude an aged feel, to band-sawn planks with distinct marks that provide the ultimate personalized look, you can’t go wrong no matter which style you choose. To warm up a cooler room, natural wood is the perfect wall or ceiling addition, while herringbone wood flooring makes a big statement. Custom-paneled Thermador appliances with a wood finish also add an ultra-warm touch, providing dimension to open-plan living areas and the smallest of spaces.

Exposed Brick
If looking to add a natural and understated texture to your space, bare bricks provide a striking solution. Boasting a raw charm, brick exudes high style and exceptionally elevates kitchens of diverse designs – from modern and industrial, to classically traditional. Brick also one of the most versatile materials, seamlessly adapting to whichever décor you pair it with. For a statement-making look, sleek Thermador appliances add an extra touch of luxury that will take your kitchen design up a notch.

Textured Tiles
One of my favorite – and most popular – ways to add texture to the kitchen is by incorporating tile. Whether sleek and smooth or rough and with dimension, it’s essential to choose the right texture for the desired effect. For a splash of creativity, ceramic tiles with bright and bold patterns are a great way to infuse a pop in a neutral kitchen or can also enhance an already bold space. Whether your design is rustic and cozy or modern and sleek, a unique tile design can almost double as a work of art – and with Thermador appliances to top off the look, your kitchen design is sure to be the envy of all who enter.

Their dual-zone column wine reserve features precision temperature in two separate temperature zones and smart humidity control to properly care and serve your favorite vintages. Combined with high-end stainless steel finishes and a cascade of stunning blue or white LED light, nothing protects and presents a treasured wine collection quite like a Perlick.

SMART HUMIDITY AND AIR FILTRATION
Advanced technology monitors humidity levels in the reserve, and if necessary, pushes additional moisture into the compartment to maintain 60-70% humidity. This preserves corks, prevents oxidation and ensures the quality of wine. This, along with natural carbon air filtration, ensures ideal conditions for wine preservation and maturation.
TWO INDEPENDENTLY-CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE ZONES
White wine is best enjoyed at a cooler serving temperature than red wine, which is why Perlick dual-zone models offer two independently-controlled temperature zones. Store red (top zone) and white (lower zone) wine at separate temperatures, or plan for long-term storage with cellar mode which bring the entire reserve to 55F.
