Leather Made for Life Design Project Lexi Westergard
Create the ultimate living room by…
…Pairing a leather sofa with a linen sofa or a pair of upholstered chairs. This helps add interest to the room by making it feel more collected.
…Adding pillows to the sofa to bring in pattern and interest to the room. I always pick pillows with different colors and patterns, usually a large scale pattern, a stripe or geometric style, and something small scale. I also make sure that the one of the fabrics has organic shapes like a floral.
…Maximizing versatility. The Sylvie Sofa is great because it has clean lines and goes well with almost any style of home. It also has the ability to be dressed up or down depending on the other pieces of furniture it is paired with.
What inspired you about designing your space around the Sylvie Sofa?
My current sofa has a more traditional and formal shape, so I knew I wanted to add a more modern-style sofa with it. When I saw the Sylvie Sofa, I loved that it has clean lines and a more modern feel. I also liked that it had a bench cushion seat and came in a performance leather.
What was the inspiration for this color palette?
The jumping-off point for this room was the rug. I loved that the rug was neutral with a dark pinkish hue. I picked complementary pillow fabrics that added a little color into the space, while still keeping an overall neutral tone.
What are the three essentials you think every room needs?
A large rug to help ground the space. Always make sure that at least the front legs of the upholstery are on the rug.
Accessories are the icing on the cake. They complete a space and help create a layered look.
Great lighting has the ability to make a home look more custom and high-end.
